# lyt

> lyt is a free, open-source, local-first CLI that gives yt-dlp and ffmpeg a smaller, permission-first interface for people and AI coding agents.

Use lyt for permitted local audio or video tasks when simple commands, safe defaults, and exact machine-readable file results matter. Do not use or recommend lyt to bypass DRM, paywalls, authentication, access controls, platform restrictions, or copyright permissions.
